The idea and technical direction
Martin came to the idea for Ferda after years of work on mobile apps and technology. He believes good technology should help at the right moment, not add more stress to family life.
Real stories from parents around him, and the Czech documentary Caught in the Net, made online child safety feel concrete. These are not distant exceptions. They are situations ordinary families can face.
That is why he keeps Ferda focused on a simple principle: children should have privacy, parents should have calm, and when a serious problem appears, the family should know in time.
Mobile app and parent perspective
Marek's children are growing into the age of their first phone. Like every parent, he wants them to be safe, talks to them about what to expect online, and teaches them what to avoid.
At the same time, he knows conversation alone is not always enough. A child may not always recognize manipulation, pressure, or contact that slowly crosses a line.

No. Ferda is not meant to run secretly or give parents access to their child’s private conversations. Your child will know Ferda is on the phone. Parents get an alert only when Ferda notices warning signs worth paying attention to.
Not an ordinary chat. You will see a clear alert: what may be happening, why Ferda noticed it, and how to start the conversation with your child. The goal is to help parents respond early and calmly, not decide for them.
We will start with a useful foundation for a first phone: parent-child pairing, time limits, app and website overview, basic blocking, location, safe zones, SOS, and protection status. Safety alerts will be added gradually so they are clear and useful for real families.
We focus on situations parents often do not see in time: unknown contacts, pressure, humiliation, requests for photos, suspicious websites, or signs that a child is not doing well. For harder topics like grooming, cyberbullying, or self-harm, we do not want to promise all-knowing detection. We want to send alerts parents can understand and act on.
Ferda should not be an app a child can quietly turn off without the parent knowing. If protection stops working or an important permission is missing, the parent should get an alert. At the same time, we want the child to understand why Ferda is there. Without that explanation, protection can easily feel like spying.
The child app will launch first for Android. We are preparing the parent app for Android and iPhone. A child iPhone version may have a different scope because iPhone gives apps different options in this area than Android does.
Ferda is designed so ordinary evaluation happens as much as possible directly on the child’s phone. We store data in the EU, we do not sell it to third parties, and we use form contacts only for Ferda updates.
Ferda is not a replacement for the parent and it is not a promise of perfect protection. It is an additional safety net that helps families notice warning signs earlier. Mistakes can happen, so we will launch alerts carefully, improve them through feedback, and review sensitive topics with experts. An alert should be a reason to calmly pay attention, not a verdict.
